RE: Savannah GA campground recommendations? any?

Whenever we're in Savannah we stay at the Hardeeville RV Park in S.C. It's a ten minute drive from the campground to Downtown Savannah on alt 17, This is a bare bones CG, no club house or bath house, but all new full hook-ups (30-50 amp) free Wifi and large level sites. Hardeeville RV RV Park Reviews for Hardeeville RV I checked out the webpage for Hardeeville RV Park. Seems OK, but then I found their rules and requlations - WOW! Six pages of what you can't do! They seem to be a little over controlling, well maybe a good thing. This really struck me as odd was this: No commercial breeding of pets will be allowed in Park. If your pet becomes pregnant, please make arrangements to have your pet stay in a facility out of the Park, before it delivers. Remember only 2 pets per site. If you want to read it all, here it is: Hardeeville RV Park Rules and Regulations

RE: TV Conversion from CRT to Flat Screen

My experience has been that an HDTV receiving HD signals is great and looks wonderful, but HDTVs receiving non-HD sources (like standard cable) looks absolutely terrible. I think you are missing something here. I agree that an analog SD signal displayed on a HDTV doesn't look as good as on a SD CRT 4:3 TV. But most folks are taking an SD signal (4:3) and making it fit the screen size of the HDTV (16:9). To do this you have to magnify the analog image, which will make an analog SD image even grainier. Then on top of that, the HDTV is typically much larger in screen size the the old analog SD CRT TV, which means all the deficiencies of the old analog signal are even more pronounced. It's not that an HDTV doesn't display good analog images, it just means it brings out all the deficiencies of the analog signal. Don't blame your HDTV for displaying a poor analog image. Remember garbage in - garbage out. Unless your old CRT TV is capable of receiving the newer digital signals OTA signals you will be needing a converter. But the good news is that the converted digital signal (converted to analog) will be a vast improvement over today's OTA analog signal. Which means every analog TV working today will have better picture quality come Feb 2009. Of course if you have satellite in your RV then all of this is a mute point. BTW - not only did I convert my old CRT analog TV to a larger HDTV (see previous post), I also converted to a HD satellite receiver. Feb will not come soon enough for me. Not having to deal with the analog signals is an awesome concept. One more thing. Feb 2009 is the deadline for starting to broadcast digital, but that does not mean digital HDTV signals are required at that time. It just means that your standard 4:3 aspect ratio must be broadcast in digital.

RE: NO HOT WATER

Check your outside shower. If you have left the hot and cold faucets on with the shower head shut off you will have cold water mixing with you hot water. Which can cause the symptom you are experiencing. Do a search and you should find similar problems that involved the outside shower.

RE: TV Conversion from CRT to Flat Screen

Here is what I just did last weekend. I had a 26 inch TV and wanted to replace it with something a little bigger. As usual trying to fit a rectangular object into a square area just doesn't work out very well. The interior of my TV cabinet was only 25 inches across and that area was just too small to mount a decent size LCD panel TV into. So I ended up finding a 32 inch TV that was just slightly bigger that the outside of the TV cabinet. Here is what our TV looked like. http://inlinethumb36.webshots.com/25635/2295191460083169129S600x600Q85.jpg It looks like the TV interferes with the doors on the upper cabinets, but there is actually about 1/2 and inch clearance. http://inlinethumb23.webshots.com/43734/2917756060083169129S600x600Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb41.webshots.com/41512/2216022280083169129S600x600Q85.jpg You can see the clearance here: http://inlinethumb30.webshots.com/6173/2601190180083169129S600x600Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb30.webshots.com/41437/2439052350083169129S600x600Q85.jpg

RE: Recent Article -Walmart Still Loves us !

And irresponsible RV owners leaving trash, setting up awnings/BBQ grills/picnic tables, and in at least one occurance, a fire ring! Just where are these people? I've been looking for this type of RVer at every Walmart I have visited for the last 5 years and I can NEVER find this happening. Just once, I would like to see a photo of this thing happening. But I guess these type of folks are just too elusive for anyone's camera... Come on folks, lets see some pictures of these disgusting:R RVers!!!

RE: Tire temps.

BTW, it still didn't take the head off the motorcycle rider dummy sitting right beside it. Of course not. Mythbusters had the tire pressure down to 20 or 30 psi. Not like your typical RV or truck tire that usually runs psi of 90/100 or even higher.

RE: Flying J changes cash discount rules again

thusly FJ and Naster Card have joined up to issue FJ/Mastercards so if I chose to get one..I can STILL get the cash discount. So where do you get a 'FlyingJ MasterCard'. I stopped at the FlyingJ at exit 320 on I75 in Georgia yesterday. The only credit card application that I could find was for a Conoco Gas Card. There wasn't a FlyingJ MasterCard application to be found anywhere..

RE: Topsail Question

Im sure the electric cart can also be used - it is a paved road (path) about 1 mile long. You might want to check on that. The last time I asked about the use of electric scooters on that road - I was told no. Your case might be different. BTW - the paved road to the beach is slightly over half a mile long.

RE: Forums will be down Tues 7/15 at 3:45pm CDT for 20 minutes

For example the 'mouseover' preview is now 10 times bigger than it needs to be. Don't have that problem with FireFox Version 3

RE: CARFAX Vehicle History

carfax is junk, its not reliable.. there is no law that says that anyone has to report to them...I can find you all kinds of cars that should have rebuilt titles, but have clear titles on carfax... I'll agree with you on that. I checked my wife's 99 Pontiac GTP before we sold it. We purchased the car new. We live in Georgia, but CarFax reported that our car was evolved an accident in IL and repaired there. We have never been to IL with any of our cars. I contacted them to get the information corrected - guess what? CarFax NEVER responded imagine that! I don't trust anything from CarFax.

RE: GPS systems

We use Delorme 2007 for running down the road, but find the trip planning functions useless. For that we use S&T. We've downloaded the Wallyworld locations for S&T from the Fleetwood owners site, so that sometimes we need to fire it up to locate one while on the road. It would be nice to have those in the Delorme. I'm using S&T 2008 and Street Atlas 2009+. Just like you I use S&T for planning our trips. Searching and modifying a route is so much easier with S&T. But I still find the new 'navigation' feature of S&T lacking compared to Street Atlas. Street Atlas 2009 now offers a 3D NavMode similar to S&T, with a much better interface than S&T. Street Atlas has a 'Forward Looking Radar' mode while navigating that works pretty well when you are looking for things like rest stops, Wally and such. I tried Co-Pilot 10 and found it to be extremely buggy, the user interface is horrible and very cumbersome to use and importing POIs was just crazy. I don't understand why you have to use a Wizard when trying to locate anything and to top that off you have to have you route already planned and your GPS up and running to even search! 'Help' files did not work without downloading the 'Help engine' used for Windows prior to Vista. I called their phone support before buying Version 10 and they assured me Version 10 was fully compatible with Vista. When I did get 'Help' working it often provided wrong information'. It does have a 'RV' option for planning route to help avoid height restrictions, but you can get POIs that have the same info for S&T or Street Atlas. Co-Pilot phone support is useless. Co-Pilot might have been a good product 5 or 6 years ago, but is has not kept up with S&T or Street Atlas. Since becoming a member of this board 5 years ago I have noticed that Co-Pilot is not recommend like it used to be.

RE: Idaho Campgrounds with sites near lakes or rivers?

Thanks everyone, this is exactly the information I am looking for. Getting personal experience from folks that have been to these places is much better than trying to figure out what would work for us using ads or web sites (when available). That's was makes this forum really great.

RE: Converting Coach to all LED lights??

I replaced all of my exterior marker lights, brake/turn signal lights with LED equivalent lights about three years ago. The only lights I have not replaced are the five teardrop shaped lights on the roof at the front of the mn. Anyone know where I can get teardrop shaped LED lights? BTW - I did not have to replace the turn signal flasher unit, it's working fine and seems to flash at the same rate as before.

Idaho Campgrounds with sites near lakes or rivers?

Always planning a trip somewhere. We are looking at going out west again and would like to explore Idaho. Our favorite types of campgrounds have sites located very near (almost on) water. Our only requirement is that the campground be big rig friendly (our mh is right at 40ft). Power and water would be nice, but not necessary. We don't have any particular place in mind, most likely a couple of days at each campground. We are just looking for beautiful scenery and solitude. Do any of you folks here have some suggestions? Photos of the campgrounds would be great. Thanks is advance.

RE: Best Price For Alcoa Wheels???

bagman: Try Southwest wheel. Sometimes some of the HD truck dealers also have good prices. I think the website is southwestwheel.com Your steel wheels should have a number stamped on them. You will need that # so they can cross to Alcoa. Moisheh By 'number' you mean the width of the rim?
